What Is A Bucket List?

In the dictionary, a Bucket List can be defined as, “a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime.” It’s often interpreted as something that is considered to be ‘morbid’ or a way of ‘bragging’ to others about your accomplishments. In reality, thought, regardless of whether or not you share your bucket list with the world, it’s your personal (& often lengthy) definition of lifetime success. Or, as I like to call it, your personal recipe for life.

One of my favorite Zig Ziglar quotes says, “You cannot hit a target you cannot see, & you cannot see a target you do not have.” A bucket list is your target, & if you don’t have one, hitting that target can be incredibly difficult. You already have your arrow, so it’s time to create your target!

So, setting aside your fear of everyone thinking you are bragging or becoming morbid, consider making a bucket list (even in secret). What is it that you want in life? What are your dreams, big & small? What in this world will make you feel most alive & worth while? What is something that you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t quite found the time? Focusing on your wants & needs can be an incredible way to change your life for the better. It can also be a great reminder that life is short, & to live it to it’s absolute fullest.
