Melly J. Hart (Melissa Joan Hart) – Inspirational Actress

Before I begin, please introduce yourself & one or more goals you would like to accomplish in the near future.

Melissa Joan Hart. I would like to write a book or screenplay in the next few years and host SNL someday.

When you were little, what did you want to be ‘When You Grow Up…”? Is this a goal you’re still working toward, have you accomplished this, or has your life taken a different path?

I wanted to be a ballerina and worked hard in class toward that goal but acting got in the way.

You got started with acting at a very young age with Clarissa Explains It All, continued your career with Sabrina The Teenage Witch, have been in a few great movies (Drive Me Crazy to name one of the many) and now you’re a huge part in the new show Melissa & Joey. How did you motivate yourself to come this far?

I actually started when I was 4 with commercials, movies and a lot of theatre. I started producing with Sabrina and that keeps me in a position to find great projects that I want to work on.

What’s gotten you where you are in your career today? Are there other opportunities you wish you’d taken? What opportunities did you take that you’re the most proud of?

My mother mostly. And my work ethic and love of being on a set and part of a collaboration. I’m proud of my directing and race car driving. They have been very exciting and fulfilling and I’m glad I didn’t let the fear keep me from it. It may have been a mistake not to do the movie I Know What You Did Last Summer since it lead those girls to feature careers but I really didn’t like the story of the film.

You’ve made such an impact on so many lives through television shows and movies. Did you expect that you would be such a big role model to so many? Is this something you enjoy or does it make you nervous?

I enjoy it. I have a wide range of fans in many countries of many ages and races and they unbelievably devoted and caring toward me.

Was there anyone that told you that you would never make it this far? If so, how did you move past this? If not, what advice can you give to those who are dealing with these comments today?

There were a gazillion road blocks. This business is 98% rejection but I don’t listen to the naysayers. I just trust my self to decide who I am and what I am worth.

Are there any goals you have that we wouldn’t expect and how do you plan on accomplishing them?

I just want to keep growing as a person and as a professional. I’d like to have a lifelong career. But I would also like to be a great mom, graduate from college eventually and learn to snowboard a half pipe. After 18years of riding, I have yet to enter a half pipe.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? How do you plan on getting there?

I plan on having 2 more healthy babies and keep the other 2 on track to be strong, good boys. I would also like to be traveling more and seeing the world with my family. And of course I would like to be on my 4th title role of a successful sitcom. Maybe a few great romantic comedy movies under my belt and some directing gigs.
