Leaving the Sidelines

There will be days when you feel like dirt & days when you feel like the sun; there will be moments when you’re at your weakest & moments when you are your strongest. These points in life are obvious… but what some have not considered is that our actions during these difficult & amazing times are what truly define us. Do we stand up or cower? Do we enjoy or take these things for granted? Do we stand up or wait on the sidelines?

Maybe we’ve each been the person on the sidelines at one point or another; the one to take the backseat & watch things pass them by. Needless to say, for some of us, it gets old quick & one day we might just snap & never be the same again.

One day we might be screaming, “No, we will not be walked all over. No, we will not be blamed for the mistakes of others. No, we will not tolerate getting taken advantage of. And we most certainly will not let anyone tear down the confidence we’ve spent years building with one meaningless blow.”

There are certain things that we have control over in our own lives, & sometimes we must simply refuse to let someone else take the reins. I am my own person, with my own beliefs, passions, & goals. You are your own person, with your own beliefs, passions, & goals. Yours are different from mine & I may not agree, but I certainly can’t take those things away from you. No one can take those things away from you. We are who we are no matter how dark or light the world might get.

It’s time that we stop standing on the sidelines, & start standing up to move forward. It’s time that we start being ourselves & living our own lives. It’s time that we find every way possible to be happy & to create happiness in the lives of others because we can make a difference.
