Get Engaged | Our Engagement Story

There are no words to describe how excited I am to be writing this post right now, because I really didn’t see this coming! Just three weeks ago, my boyfriend (excuse me, fiancé) proposed to me in beautiful Glacier National Park. We’re Getting Married!

Tim had been talking about a trip to Glacier for a little while now, & I was a little unsure about it. I’m not a big fan of spending a weekend somewhere that deserves at least three days… & he even suggested making it a day trip. When we finally decided to go, he said I would need to bring nice clothes to take blogging photos in.

If you didn’t notice (neither did I), that’s two weird things already that I didn’t notice. (1) Day Trip??? (2) Nice Clothes.

We drove the road to the sun, commenting on how busy it was & I was worried about getting a camping spot. We stopped in several places – along the river where there were tons of people, at a waterfall where I could awkwardly take wine photos (for the #WINEGOALS blog), we ogled the weeping wall, & we eventually stopped at an overlook that was quiet. It’s called Siyeh Bend.

Waterfalls in the background, a glacier at the forefront, & Tim was trying to get my attention while I was all over the place taking photos. I remember asking him what he was doing.

“I’m just trying to take in the moment.” He said, super romantically.

“Okay…” I said awkwardly, standing there looking at him. (Yeah… Completely. Oblivious.)

“I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time.” He said, just before getting down on one knee.

Then he brought out a beautiful ring. “Amy, will you marry me?”

I didn’t see it coming – not even close. I assumed the thought had never really crossed his mind, but it turns out he was just really good at hiding it. He wanted to get engaged – he had for a while. This is where (if I remember correctly in all the blur), I stood there, stammering, “Is this real?! You want to marry me?!” And, luckily, I then realized he was still down on one knee & that HELLO I need to answer him! “Oh my god! Yes! Yes, of course I’ll marry you!”

We took a few photos while I was still taking it all in & then walked back to the car where I then went through all of the emotions… I got excited, I cried when he told me he asked my Dad’s permission, I started asking questions about the wedding (probably WAY too many), & I got all mushy about how it all happened. He’d really thought about this & wanted to make it meaningful. We had driven 5 hours just for this moment, & it was everything I’ve ever dreamed it would be.

It still hasn’t quite sunk in, weeks later. I’m on cloud 9!! And next year, I’ll be checking ‘Get Married’ off the list as I marry the man of my dreams! What a rush!

Always,
Amy
